Private Confessions
Anna finds herself in an inescapable predicament. Despite having a pastor husband, three children, and a beautiful home, she is consumed by a fervent love for Tomas Egerman, a theology student a decade her junior. Faced with a dilemma, she grapples with the decision to either reveal the truth or shield herself and her loved ones with deceit. Confronted with the prospect of inevitable calamity, Anna navigates the complexities of honesty and its repercussions. Her choices ignite a sequence of events where love, desire, guilt, and hope converge.
„Private Confessions“ constitutes the concluding installment of Ingmar Bergman’s „Family Trilogy“, preceded by „Good Intentions“ and „Sunday’s Children“. Anna’s character is reminiscent of Bergman’s own mother, whose diaries served as a foundation for the narrative.
